What MOT test results show
A typical result can include:
- Pass or fail outcome
- Test date and test number where available
- Recorded mileage
- Expiry after a successful pass
- Failures and advisories
Pass and fail explained
A pass meets the minimum legal standard at test time — it does not guarantee a fault-free year. A fail means one or more defects prevented a pass. See MOT failures and MOT advisories.
How to interpret results
Review the newest result first, then compare earlier outcomes. Repeated fails in the same category often matter more than a single repaired issue. Try demo registration AB12 CDE on the free MOT checker (demo data).
